Our Pastor – John Belden

Pilgrim Presbyterian Church has called Rev. John Belden to be our new pastor.

Background: John is originally from the Detroit area. He was born in Livonia and lived there until the age of 10. Then, his family moved to northern Michigan. He worked as a carpenter in Detroit until he came to faith in Christ in 1991. In 1993 he took a position as volunteer coordinator for a housing ministry in Appalachia. During this time, he sensed God calling him to gospel ministry. He began attending Columbia International University in 1996. During that time, he came to an understanding of the Reformed Faith and began seeking a Reformed seminary. In 1998 he began attending Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. After his third year at Greenville he returned to Appalachia to serve as pulpit supply for a new church plant. In 2004 he graduated from Greenville Seminary and was ordained as the pastor of Neon Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Family: John has been married to Sarah since 2000. They have five children, Abigail, Jacob, Caroline, Nathaniel, and Matthew.

Ministry: He served as pulpit supply then pastor of Neon Reformed Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Neon Kentucky for 9 years. He also served a short time as pastor of Sunnyvale OPC in Sunnyvale California. He and his family moved to Metamora Michigan in February of 2016 to begin as pastor of Pilgrim OPC.

Hobbies: He enjoys hunting with his sons, woodworking, antiques, and spending time with his family.
